The Senior Manager, Estimating at Worley is a pivotal role responsible for supervising cost estimating and analysis activities across major projects, often involving significant non-routine requirements. This role requires the identification, analysis, and provision of innovative solutions to cost estimating challenges. The Senior Manager will oversee the preparation and presentation of estimates and cost trends for management attention. Additionally, they will collaborate with operational managers to ensure alignment with broader organizational initiatives and objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation Leadership:  Lead and supervise cost estimating and analysis activities for diverse projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with organizational standards.

Problem Solving:  Identify and analyze cost estimating problems, offering creative and effective solutions to ensure project success.

Estimate Preparation:  Oversee or directly prepare estimates and cost trend reports, presenting findings to senior management for informed decision-making.

Alignment with Organizational Goals:  Collaborate with operational managers to ensure that project work aligns with broader organizational initiatives and objectives, influencing outcomes within established policies.

Strategic Thinking:  Demonstrate an understanding of business strategies and culture, working to achieve results that extend beyond the scope of individual function.

Time Management:  Manage similar situations with a time horizon of up to one year, ensuring projects stay on track and within budget.

Qualifications

·         University Degree or equivalent in a related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

·         Significant years of relevant experience, including supervisory, project management, and/or technical expertise.

·         Ability to troubleshoot and develop tactical plans to implement organizational goals and innovative concepts related to projects and functional areas of expertise.

·         Broad knowledge of the functional area, with the ability to implement and lead organizational project changes effectively.

·         Solutions-oriented mindset, drawing from interpreted and applied general information and consultation with other individuals.

Key Competencies

·         Self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance.

·         Ability to influence duties within the organization.

·         Receives administrative direction based on organization policies and objectives.

·         Work is reviewed to ensure conformity with policy and coordination with other company departments.

Management Responsibilities

·         Manage and direct work directly or through supervisors or professionals leading others.

·         Make decisions regarding the selection, training, discipline, and remuneration of staff.

·         Assign program work that involves several projects and set the policy framework for project work.

Communication and Leadership

·         Effectively communicate and present complex proposals and reports to senior-level management.

·         Ability to persuade and influence others.

·         Utilize a participative management style with a cooperative team approach.

Technical Expertise

·         Possess an advanced understanding of systems, processes, and tools related to the field.

·         Able to assist others and troubleshoot issues.

·         May be involved in the development of new systems, processes, and tools.
