The Construction Superintendent – Welding Trade provides leadership on major construction projects by supervising and coordinating large welding crews. This role ensures that productivity, quality, safety, and training standards are achieved while promoting sustainable construction practices and the development of skilled welders for the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate a large team of forepeople and welding trade crews on construction sites to deliver safe and efficient project outcomes.
  • Oversee welding schedules, workface planning, and workforce allocation to maintain project timelines and manpower balance.
  • Champion Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards by embedding safe welding practices and fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Ensure proper apprentice and trade training in welding methods, supporting workforce development and the transfer of critical trade skills.
  • Monitor welding productivity, material use, and quality control to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer expectations.
  • Provide technical expertise in welding systems, processes, and tools, including troubleshooting and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with construction management teams and other trades to resolve conflicts, align priorities, and deliver integrated project objectives.
  • Apply knowledge of labor relations policies while fostering positive team dynamics and promoting inclusive workplace practices.
  • Support the development of innovative welding techniques and sustainable solutions that align with Worley’s ambition to lead the industry in sustainability.

Qualifications / Skillset

  • Extensive experience in welding trade supervision with a proven record of leading large welding teams on complex projects.
  • Recognized welding trade certification or equivalent technical qualifications, supported by significant on-the-job supervisory experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of welding codes, procedures, and quality standards, with the ability to guide teams in meeting project requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop welders at various stages of their careers.
  • Expertise in welding-related construction systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to drive efficiency and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment practices specific to welding and fabrication activities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing costs, material usage, and quality control while promoting sustainable and innovative welding practices.
  • Adaptability to evolving project needs and alignment with Worley’s sustainability-focused strategy.
