The Heavy Lift Coordinator plays a critical role in achieving this purpose by providing technical expertise and leadership in the planning and safe execution of heavy lift operations. This position ensures that complex lifting activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory, contractual, and sustainability requirements. The role requires advanced knowledge of lifting systems, strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in line with Worley’s ambition to be recognized globally as a leader in sustainability solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy lift operations on construction and project sites, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and sustainability standards.

  • Develop and review heavy lift strategies, risk assessments, and engineered lift plans to ensure compliance with regulations, customer requirements, and corporate policies.

  • Provide technical guidance on cranes, rigging, and lifting equipment selection, capacity, and application to ensure efficient and safe lifting operations.

  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate heavy lift requirements into broader project schedules and activities.

  • Conduct pre-lift meetings, safety briefings, and on-site coordination to maintain a strong culture of safety and accountability.

  • Monitor and evaluate heavy lift activities to ensure they meet cost, schedule, and quality objectives while minimizing environmental impact.

  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and identify innovative lifting methods that improve efficiency and sustainability outcomes.

  • Liaise with regulators, customers, and internal stakeholders to communicate technical requirements, approvals, and progress related to heavy lift operations.

  • Mentor and guide team members, supporting capability building in safe and sustainable heavy lift practices.

  • Champion Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives, embedding safe work practices into all phases of heavy lift execution.

Qualifications / Skillset

  • Recognized technical qualification or equivalent experience in heavy lifting, rigging, or crane operations within the construction, energy, or resources industries.

  • Extensive hands-on experience coordinating complex heavy lift operations with a strong understanding of lifting equipment, load handling, and engineered lift planning.

  • Advanced knowledge of heavy lift engineering standards, industry regulations, and safety practices, with the ability to apply them effectively on site.

  • Strong capability in developing and reviewing lift studies, risk assessments, and contingency plans for complex lifting operations.

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coordinate teams, conduct safety briefings, and mentor others in lifting practices.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver clear technical reports, proposals, and presentations to stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to integrate lifting operations into overall project execution.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment practices, with the ability to embed sustainability into all aspects of lifting operations.

  • Innovative and adaptable mindset, with the ability to identify and apply improved lifting methods that support Worley’s long-term sustainability goals.
