Position: Senior Applications Technical Specialist (GPDS Applications Specialist)

This role is responsible for GPD enterprise system frameworks including adhering to security, managing application vendor upgrades, managing Worley enhancements

and to perform these duties this role must have in depth knowledge of the application’s internal workings, liaison with TCS and coordinate Worley’s needs expressed 

by the functional owners, this role will also be responsible for ensuring TCS tracks and resolve framework issues for the identified applications.

Key Accountabilities
Focus includes 3rd party applications including AVEVA AIM, SAAS and Worley proprietary In-house developed tools Robust System Connector (RSC), and custom AIM modules.
Application specific Architecture
•    Define product architecture and design for seamless integration of new and existing systems to eliminate potential problems while maintaining data integrity and reliability
•    Lead technical and design discussions to expedite adoption of required technologies and migration of legacy applications to leverage new technologies for enabling cloud-based hosting
•    Manage dependency across application modules, change management, integration, and security requirements of application
•    Investigate and drive architecture changes to improve and maximize system reliability & automation, and to meet business requirements.

Project Planning related to application frameworks
•    Plan and coordinate application projects that often require involvement from several disciplines.  For example, migrating projects to a new server.
•    Follow the Worley Change process and get CAB approvals 
•    Oversee process for technical issue escalation and prioritize technical issue resolution

Application specific Infrastructure Coordination
•    Coordinate with vendors for implementation \ deployment of new systems, performance issues
•    Coordinate with IT teams for configuration of application infrastructure, availability, sizing, migration, monitoring, etc.
•    Implement system configuration changes to ensure compliance with IT security policies.
•    Plan migration, testing and deployment of new software release
•    Assists in investigating production issues and implement solutions
•    Track and coordinate application migration post-merger and/or acquisition, de-commissioning of legacy application infrastructure
•    Monitor application infrastructure post monthly maintenance and carry-out proactive maintenance.
•    Coordinate with application disaster recovery activities as per the scheduled activity and ensure data is backed-up securely for the respective systems
•    Investigate and promote use of automation and DevOps tools and practices.

Application Development 
•    Requirements gathering for implementation or integration of new systems or application modules including Worley proprietary Robust System Connector (RSC), and Worley-developed AIM modules
•    Leverage skills across applications development area to provide technical oversight across systems and applications to help promote reusability
•    Coordinate with development teams for development, testing integration of new modules
•    Ensure software products and solutions developed are adequately documented
•    Provide Tier 3 application support when required

Job Specific Knowledge and experience:
•    A strong understanding of GPDS applications Framework and project data management systems including their architecture and database technologies.
•    Proven experience in interfacing with IT stakeholders to consider / inform strategic planning and business alignment.
•    Broad knowledge of the Engineering / Procurement / Construction (EPC) information lifecycle sufficient to liaison with Application Owners.
•    Broad working knowledge of Information Management disciplines
•    An understanding of ITIL is useful as it applies to the Worley application processes.
•    Initiative, drive, and high energy levels including proven problem-solving experience in challenging environments

Industry Specific Experience: 
•    15 years’ experience in the support of GPDS’s engineering tools for the EPC business. Has held senior positions ensuring development, support and growth of computer-based engineering systems.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
•    Relevant tertiary qualifications with a preferred degree in Engineering and at least 20 years’ experience in the use of computer-based design tools.

•    Ability to comply with, promote and provide leadership in HSE policy and safety framework
•    Achieve the objectives of the Zero-Harm vision through proactively implementing actions and/or corrective or mitigating actions, and by maintaining an overall knowledge and awareness of the work-place environment (operations, layout, hazards, risks, concurrent activities, personnel, etc.)
•    Role-model a commitment to personal well-being and a pro-active approach to continuously improving health, safety, and environmental performance

IT Skills:

Must have strong knowledge of Azure/AWS, networking, databases, and hardware

Must have strong knowledge of network, databases and hardware for Project Delivery Systems.

Must have experience working on complex software systems (both 3rd party and custom) with high availability that are horizontally scalable.

Must have strong understanding of GPDS applications Frameworks.

Strong understanding of cloud deployed applications for designing, managing and deploying software systems on Azure.  Knowledge of Agile development methodology and deployment strategies, ITIL process preferred

•    Partner closely with multi-functional teams including Business Analysts, SME, Application Owners, Data Managers, Security Team and IT Team members to ensure project success.
