Recycling Systems Material Handling Engineer We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Recycling Consultant to join our Material Handling team. In the Consultant role, you will be responsible for the design and development of production systems in particular recycling and sortation systems for plastics, metals, chemicals and other commodities as well as Material Recovery Facilities, improving efficiency of existing systems, and providing input into the selection and use of inventory management systems. Your expertise will contribute to the overall success of our client projects by implementing best practices and maintaining a high level of organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of warehouse and production facility operations. The is a full-time position based in East Vancouver, BC. Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities: The responsibilities of the role cover all aspects of projects from conceptual and feasibility studies through to FEED stages for multiple clients concurrently. These may include: · Plant Layout and Design, working with the logistics and client teams to develop and implement an efficient plant and equipment layout that optimizes throughput and final product quality · Plant logistics Layout and Design optimise feedstock deliveries and finished goods collection while maintaining safety for operations and visitors · Facility Inspection and Process Improvement · Preparation of technical specifications, equipment lists and reports for production lines, sortation and recycling equipment, densification equipment (extruders and pelletizers) bagging and packaging equipment and related facilities · Vendor Management: Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of budget costs, estimates and documentation. · Technology Implementation: Stay up-to-date with recycling systems and relevant technologies and identify opportunities to implement automation and digitalization to streamline operations for our clients. · Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in all projects · Develop work plans, budgets, estimates and manpower forecasts · Track and report work progress · Mentor junior engineers and prepare training plans · Be available for short term assignments worldwide · Establish and grow internal and external client relations Qualifications: · A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, waste management, logistics or a related field · Proven experience in recycling operations including selection of handling systems and equipment · Experience with material sortation, material densification and industry best practices · Experience with bulk bagging and packaging equipment is an asset · Registered or eligible for registration with EGBC · Excellent technical writing and presentation skills · Experience with Computer Aided Design software and Microsoft Office is preferred · Good communication skills both written and verbal · Excellent organizational and time management skills · Exceptional interpersonal skills
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $125,106 to $183980 CAD per year Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
