Project Risk Analyst II

Houston, TX

Purpose of the Role:

The Project Risk Analyst II is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring all risk management activities and associated documentation across multiple concurrent project scopes. This role ensures the application of risk management processes throughout the full project lifecycle, including the pre-contract phase.  This position also provides guidance and leadership to junior risk personnel, supporting their professional development.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects while driving the continuous improvement of risk management processes across Worley’s dynamic portfolio.

This position is based at Worley’s Houston, TX office and requires an in-office presence three days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee risk management activities across projects, identifying areas for enhancement and optimization.
  • Provide comprehensive risk management services, facilitating risk identification, assessment, and mitigation throughout various project phases.
  • Analyze and interpret risk outputs, effectively communicating key findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate project risk-related processes, ensuring timely identification and resolution of variances or potential issues.
  • Support Project and Contract Managers with contract-specific reporting and risk-related responsibilities.
  • Actively engage with project teams, contributing to meetings and providing risk insights as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior risk management professionals.
  • Demonstrate expertise in utilizing Worley’s Risk Management tools and software applications.
  • Ensure adherence to Worley’s Risk Management processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Maintain risk management activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accurate documentation, timely updates, and effective distribution of risk-related information.
  • Facilitate risk workshops, develop, and maintain project risk registers, and conduct cost and schedule risk analysis sessions.
  • Assist risk owners in selecting and implementing appropriate risk response strategies and action plans.
  • Advocate for the integration of decision analysis methodologies in project risk management where applicable.
  • Contribute to the enhancement and continuous improvement of risk management tools, frameworks, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal Project Delivery Functions, including Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, Construction, Supply Chain, Risk Management, Project Commercial, Pre-Contracts, Estimating, and Performance Teams.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Client Project Representatives to align risk management efforts.
  • Lead and participate in workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions, including lessons learned initiatives.
  • Deliver presentations on risk management best practices to internal teams and external audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management, overseeing large-scale projects or managing multiple smaller projects simultaneously.
  • IRM International Certificate in Risk Management or a relevant professional certification (e.g., PMI-RMP, MoR, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Expertise in risk management software, including Monte Carlo simulation (MCS software), with experience in quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis.
  • Proven track record in EPC projects, relevant industries, or transferable experience from comparable technical sectors.
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead discussions and guide project teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with project teams, third parties, and clients, ensuring alignment with internal and external risk management requirements.
  • Ability to provide qualitative insights into risk management processes and initiatives.
  • Skilled in building strong, constructive relationships to facilitate the resolution of risk-related challenges.
  • Proficient in qualitative risk assessment, facilitating risk analysis, and evaluating specific threats and opportunities.
  • Advanced competency in quantitative risk modeling (cost and schedule) and analyzing outputs using industry-standard risk analysis tools.
  • Ability to challenge project teams constructively to ensure comprehensive risk identification and mitigation.
  • Demonstrated experience in project risk management, preferably within engineering, construction, or consulting environments.
  • Strong proficiency in risk management methodologies, tools, and software applications.
  • Experience in facilitating risk workshops and conducting risk assessments.
  • Ability to interpret and effectively communicate risk analysis findings to stakeholders.
  • Understanding of contract management principles related to risk allocation.
  • In-depth knowledge of cost and schedule risk analysis techniques.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership capability to mentor and develop junior risk professionals.
  • Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
