Manager, Material Controls
Purpose of the Role
As Manager of Material Controls, you will play a key role in ensuring that the flow of materials, equipment, and related services supports Worley’s commitment to delivering sustainable change. You will oversee and coordinate material control activities for projects, ensuring that resources are effectively defined, quantified, procured, and distributed in alignment with project schedules. This role contributes directly to Worley’s ambition of leading the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors toward a more sustainable future by embedding operational excellence, innovation, and reliability into every stage of material management.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all material control activities across assigned projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and customer requirements.
Oversee the identification, definition, and requisition of all materials and equipment required to support project execution, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
Coordinate with cross-functional project teams to ensure integrated solutions, from procurement through delivery, installation, and commissioning.
Apply advanced problem-solving skills to anticipate, analyze, and resolve material supply issues, ensuring uninterrupted project progress.
Develop and implement tactical plans that translate Worley’s strategic direction into effective material management solutions.
Guide and mentor team members, promoting a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Provide leadership in the preparation and presentation of reports, proposals, and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to Worley’s policies, professional standards, and sustainability goals in all material control practices.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of material control systems, processes, and tools, supporting efficiency and innovation.
Qualifications / Skill Set
University degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Extensive experience in material controls, supply chain, or project management within the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.
Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and overseeing material or logistics functions in complex projects.
Strong business acumen with the ability to make tactical decisions in line with broader organizational strategy.
Advanced knowledge of material control systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to troubleshoot and implement improvements.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, generate insights, and apply results to business operations.
Commitment to Worley’s purpose of delivering a more sustainable world, with the ability to integrate sustainability considerations into material control practices.
High level of initiative, independence, and judgment in setting priorities, making decisions, and resolving complex issues.
