Industrial Coater/Painter (Construction) - Anchorage, Fab Shop, AK
Position Summary:
Prepares surfaces and applies protective coatings such as paints to pipes, valves, structures, tanks, and vessels as required in maintenance of oilfield facilities. May be tasked to perform various manual, unskilled, and/or skilled tasks as required in support of Construction Operations. The position is located in Anchorage based on a 5 day a week work schedule.
Schedule subject to change pending the project(s) needs.
Essential Job Functions:
· Responsible for blasting and coating of the internal and external parts of various vessels and tanks to client specifications.
· Performs abrasive blasting of surface areas to be coated.
· Continually seek and implement safety & work process improvements.
· Examine work and materials for compliance with job and safety specifications.
· Perform safety and productivity observations including shop, field, and vehicle inspections; ensuring that all incidents are promptly reported.
· Attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.
· Promote safe work practices and implement company and client safety policies for work crew, including proper hazard recognition and mitigation.
· Demonstrate support for the company's environmental management system.
· Pass on site skills test to demonstrate core proficiencies.
· Cleanup of tools, equipment, and work areas.
· Perform heavy labor such as shoveling, compacting, and backfilling excavations, or hauling and stacking pipe skids in support of other maintenance activities as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
· Knowledge of technical and safety policies, procedures, and standards applicable to the maintenance craft.
· Thorough knowledge of blasting/coating equipment.
· Working knowledge of numerous industrial paints, preparation, special coatings.
· Capable of working in confined space.
· Ability to climb ladders of various heights.
· Ability to work as part of a team with fellow workers and your alternate.
· Ability to demonstrate commitment to established safety policies and procedures.
· Ability to apply coating to spec requirement with airless and conventional sprayer.
· Ability to maintain and repair blasting/coating equipment.
· Ablility to work with minimal supervision and be capable of performing assigned tasks with limited general technical guidance.
· Depending on assignment, may be required to prepare and process various types of documentation including permits and SETA card completion to identify task hazards.

Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, extreme cold or heat and high noise levels. Employee will work in an environment where there is risk that they will be exposed to toxic, caustic and/or hazardous chemicals, fumes or airborne particles. Workers are required to wear personal protective equipment while on the job. The work generally requires routine walking, sitting, standing, squatting, climbing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, and carrying items. An individual will be required to work the majority of hours in an industrial environment and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands.

Qualifications:
· Valid Alaska Hazardous Paint handlers’ card within six months of hire.
· High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Preferred Qualifications:
· NACE training preferred.
