The position is based in Anchorage at the Worley Fabrication Facility, on a 5 day a week work schedule.
Schedule subject to change pending the project(s) needs.
No relocation or per diem is provided.
Job Purpose:
Working under the supervision of the Coatings Lead, the Coatings Helper performs day-to-day tasks relative to industrial coatings, including assisting Industrial Coater and Coatings Lead with job set-up, clean-up, and general shop labor.
Essential Job Functions:
- Set up, inspect, start, and maintain equipment that delivers paint and regulates pressures that produce a safe and efficient environment.
- Operate painting equipment (pressure paint guns, hoses, industrial air compressors, etc.) safely and efficiently.
- Weigh or measure chemicals, coating, or paints before adding them to machines.
- Apply primer and paint coatings as required in a manner that will ensure quality and unnecessary waste.
- Wear a respirator when painting structures and pipes. Participation in Worley’s respiratory protection program is mandatory.
- Follow SDS for all products and chemicals.
- Protect against fumes and discoloration of the product.
- Appropriately dispose of hazardous waste.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to operate equipment safely and possess knowledge of safe work habits.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of machines and work area.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in harsh winter conditions and environments.
- Must be a self-starter; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work as a part of a team and follow work directions.
- Capable of learning various Worley operational procedures and demonstrating required competencies.
- Ability to follow all company safety, and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.
- Ability to give and receive emergency instructions, oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.
- Sound knowledge of operations and safety policies and procedures.

Workers are required to wear personal protective equipment while on the job. The work generally requires routine walking, sitting, standing, squatting, climbing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching and carrying items. An individual will be required to work the majority of hours in an industrial environment and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands.
External Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years’ experience working as an industrial painter/ coatings helper.
