Vice President, Operations – Northern England
Role Context:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to collaborate across and shape several cutting-edge international projects within the energy and sustainability space. Under your strategic guidance you will help shape the future at Worley, collaborate with some of the best individuals in the industry and support us on our journey to a Net Zero by 2050 goal!
The Vice President, Operations Northern England at Worley is a key leadership position across mainland UK, responsible for planning and directing the activities, policies, objectives, and initiatives for this part of the business. Our main Northern England offices are Manchester & Stockton-on-Tees. This role plays a vital part in guiding the strategic development, business planning, and goal setting for the business, aligning with Worley's commitment to delivering a more sustainable world.
You will do:
Leadership and Strategic Planning:
- Be an inclusive leader providing growth opportunities for your team.
- Role model safety behaviours and ensure these same behaviours are embedded in the location.
- Manage a large or complex location, aligning with Worley’s tagline “Delivering Sustainable Change”.
- Drive the operation to deliver budget objectives in terms of revenue, margin, overhead and other key operational metrics.
- Set objectives for the assigned area of responsibility, contributing to the company's target of deriving 75 percent of revenue from sustainability-related projects by FY26.
- Participate in broader strategy development with senior leadership, emphasizing Worley's journey marked by change, adaptation, and growth.
- Actively participate in team selection/appointment of key resources and drives diversity and talent development.
- Effectively communicate and present complex proposals to Senior Vice President for EUCA and other senior stakeholders.
- Adopt a participative management style with a cooperative team approach, fostering collaboration in line with Worley's commitment to a more sustainable future.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience in all commercial contracting models/risk profiles and project scopes/phases (FEL/EPC/EPCM & Lump Sum/Fixed Price/Target Price/Reimbursable, etc)
Decision-Making and Problem Solving:
- Make high-impact choices based considering the broader impact on the organization and its commitment to sustainability.
- Assimilate information from multiple sources to derive answers and solve complex questions, demonstrating a commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions mitigating risk.
Organizational Leadership:
- Provide organizational leadership with location/regional authority, emphasizing Worley's role as a prominent project delivery and engineering partner in energy, chemicals, and resources.
- Translate corporate goals into operational goals, overseeing integration across the organization in a manner consistent with Worley's promise to be the straight-talking partner for sustainable transformation.
- Mentoring and development of senior and high potential team members across the region.
- Actively engages/supports other regional projects in collaboration with regional management needs.
- Manage and direct 5-10 reports.
- Network of high-level key client contacts and industry bodies and ability to enhance customer relationships.
Strategic Development and Commercial Acumen:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of broader systems, processes, and tools related to the field, emphasizing Worley's evolution and growth over the past 50 years.
- Direct and guide the strategic development of new systems, processes, and tools, reflecting Worley's commitment to delivering sustainable change.
- Exhibit strong commercial acumen with experience in various commercial contracting models, risk profiles, and project scopes/phases, showcasing Worley's capability in driving innovation and sustainability across projects.
You’ll be able to/have:
- Several years’ leadership experience of broad management.
- Comfortable presenting at all levels within an organization from workforce on-site to group executive level, showcasing Worley's commitment to collaboration and inclusivity.
- Strong communication and networking skills, with the ability to drive collaboration and successfully engage with client executives, senior management, and other key stakeholders, aligning with Worley's promise to be the industry's straight-talking partner.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial contracting models, risk profiles, and project scopes/phases (FEL/EPC/EPCM & Lump Sum/Fixed Price/Target Price/Reimbursable, etc.), reflecting Worley's targets and commitment to sustainability.
- A network of high-level key client contacts (or the ability to create this) and credibility/ability to enhance customer relationships, underscoring Worley's position as a prominent partner in energy, chemicals, and resources.
- Motivational, collaborative, and visible presence in leadership style with good communication skills and the ability to develop a high-performance culture, embodying Worley's commitment to delivering sustainable change and mitigating risks effectively through positive decision-making.
- Approach challenges with high positive energy and drive continuous improvement to ensure high quality delivery from yourself and colleagues around you.
- Experience of successfully engaging with client executives, senior management, and other key stakeholders.
- Regularly visible our office.
- Able to travel to various offices across the UK.
- Not essential but experience in large projects or alliance programs environment from engineering through to construction and commissioning
