Technical Consultant, Water Scientist

Join our dynamic team as a Technical Consultant, Water Scientist. You'll be dedicated to a top-tier customer’s oil sands operation, working on a field rotation schedule of 14 days on-site (including mobilization and demobilization) followed by 14 days off. Accommodation while on rotation is provided at a lodge near the client’s mine site.

Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in conducting field-related environmental monitoring activities such as groundwater and surface water sampling.
  • Perform tasks under the supervision of the crew supervisor efficiently and accurately using standard methods and techniques.
  • Assist in creating and presenting reports for project members and clients.
  • Support in tracking and reporting field activity.
  • Participate in safety discussions and associated documentation.
  • Monitor for bear activity near the work team.
  • Travel as required for various field programs.

Qualifications

  • Completion in a four-year Bachelor of Science or Engineering program, a two-year Diploma program in natural resource science or a related field, and/or an environmental monitoring course.
  • Junior to intermediate experience in the field, sampling, monitoring and writing reports.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with project stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in remote wilderness settings and monitoring for bear activity.
  • Ability to walk long distances in uneven terrain and adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Class 5 driver’s license is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Argo operation is an asset.
  • Previous consulting experience is preferred.
