The Coastal Modelling Team Lead will oversee a specialized team in the development and implementation of ocean and coastal models to support worldwide Ports & Marine Projects. This role involves leading the team in delivering high-quality modelling outputs, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory standards, fostering innovation in coastal modelling techniques, and developing the team to ensure its growth and success.

This role can be based in Dubai, Cape Town or Madrid.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and manage the coastal modelling team, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise.
• Coordinate the development of a regional centre of expertise in Marine and Coastal.
• Develop and implement coastal models to assess and predict coastal processes.
• Integrate and collaborate with large international project teams to provide world-class expertise.
• Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations to stakeholders.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in coastal modelling and integrate new techniques and technologies.
• Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.

Provide project management and technical advice across various specialist skills and service offerings within the Ports & Marine
team, such as:

• Coastal modelling (mathematical & physical)
• Marine sea state analysis
• Coastal and marine engineering
• Coastal zone management and sustainability
• Coastal stabilization planning and structure design (e.g., revetments, breakwaters)
• Navigation and shipping
• Port operations & mooring analysis
• Dredging & beach nourishments
• Climate change adaptation
• Effluent dispersion and water quality modelling
• Site investigations & measurements

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree on Marine or Coastal Engineering, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics or related field

Experience:
• Relevant experience in marine and coastal numerical modelling (minimum 15 years' experience)
• A deep knowledge of state-of-art numerical modelling approaches to marine and coastal processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in the use of commercial and non-commercial numerical tools
• A strong understanding of coastal sedimentary processes
• Proficiency in statistical analysis of time series data to support modelling efforts
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills
• Proven leadership and team management skills
• Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement
• Experience in technical reporting and advisory, consultancy or engineering environment
• Knowledge of best practices in coastal modelling
