As a Subsea Riser Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and optimizing riser systems for floating offshore oil and gas production facilities. The Riser Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that riser systems are designed to meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Subsea Riser Engineer to join our Perth team. 

The role responsibilities include:

  • Perform detailed engineering of riser systems, including strength and fatigue assessments, to ensure compliance with industry codes and standards 
  • Develop and review design premises, design reports, and technical specifications for riser systems. 
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (e.g., structural, mechanical, and naval architecture) to ensure integrated design solutions. 
  • Conduct wall thickness design and verify steel riser pipe wall thickness size considering industry codes and standards. 
  • Perform riser installation engineering, including laydown, retrieval, and hook-up operations. 
  • Develop and review procedures and drawings for riser installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Prepare and review well written technical documents, including design reports, drawings, and specifications. 
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. 

What you’ll have

  • Masters degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. 
  • Relevant years of experience in riser engineering in the energy, oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., API, DNV, ISO).
  • Significant experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Experienced at programming.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication, written and spoken, and teamwork skills .
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with riser design software (e.g., OrcaFlex, Flexcom, Riflex, Abaqus) and  experienced at programming in Python.
  • Knowledge of riser systems including Flexible Pipe and Steel Catenary, and floating systems including FPSO’s and semi-submersibles.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic.  
  • Some experience with supervision, coordination and project management
