Worley are seeking an experienced and motivated Groundworker / Plant Operator to join the Site Team on a long-term project in the UK. This role is ideal for someone who is confident operating a range of plant machinery but is also hands-on and willing to assist with groundworks tasks when not on the controls.
Role Requirements
Operate a range of plant and mobile equipment in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner, including (but not limited to):
- Excavators
- Dumpers
- Rollers
- Tractors
- Telehandler (advantageous, not essential)
Be willing to start early or stay late as part of winterisation duties and flexible to work nights if required.
Assist with groundworks operations when not operating machinery – including drainage, ducting, concreting, and other manual tasks.
Work as part of a multi-skilled team, supporting colleagues to ensure smooth site progress.
Carry out general site construction duties, which may include basic plumbing, joinery, or general handyman works (training can be provided if required).
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental regulations, RAMS, and company policies at all times.
Maintain equipment and working areas to the highest standards of safety and housekeeping.
Identify, report, and rectify unsafe conditions or working practices immediately.
Collaborate effectively with supervisors and other trades to ensure activities are sequenced and delivered efficiently.
Participate in Health & Safety meetings, inspections, and forums as required.
Support other site activities when required.
Essential Experience, Qualifications & Certification
Previous experience in a construction or civil engineering environment.
Tickets/qualifications for the following plant (valid CPCS/NPORS or equivalent):
- Excavator
- Dumper
- Roller
- Tractor
- Telehandler (preferred but not essential)
Ability and willingness to undertake groundworks duties when not operating plant.
Experience working with hand and power tools.
Full UK driving licence.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Safety-conscious with an “incident-free” mindset.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
NVQ Level 2 in Construction Operations or similar.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, joinery, or general building tasks.
Previous experience working on environmentally sensitive sites (e.g., National Parks.
