Senior Wetlands Biologist
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science/ Resource Management, or an equivalent degree program, or an Environmental Technology/technical diploma, or equivalent diploma program.
- Several years of senior-level experience working in vegetation and/or wetland ecology in Alberta.
- Knowledge of the regulatory framework within Alberta relating to vegetation, wetlands, and reclamation is mandatory.
- Registered Professional Biologist (P.Bio) in Alberta or with another Province/Territory and able to obtain in Alberta.
- Experience working in North America (Canada and USA) would be an asset.
- Accreditation as an Authenticating Wetland Practitioner, or the ability to obtain would be an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in completing and authorizing wetland regulatory submissions under the Alberta Wetland Policy and Water Act.
- Proven experience in conducting reclamation assessments, developing reclamation plans, and preparing reclamation certificate applications in accordance with various regulatory bodies in Alberta.
- Proficiency in plant identification and ability to perform fieldwork in remote, rugged locations under diverse environmental conditions.
- Industry experience in sectors such as pipelines, upstream and downstream oil and gas facilities, mining, infrastructure, or renewable energy projects is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in writing proposals, work plans and creating cost estimates.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Advanced technical writing skills, with experience as a senior reviewer and authenticating professional of technical reports.
- Proficient in computer applications and software relevant to the role.
- Project management experience is considered an asset.
- Self-starter and flexible team player. Reliable and motivated. Ability to work within a team environment.
