Purpose:

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Project Procurement to join us in our Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in capital project procurement within an EPC organization. The Senior Manager, Project Procurement will also have a robust track record of team leadership and strategic operational management.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Responsible for all activities related to the procurement of equipment, materials and third-party contract service ensuring quality compliance of equipment, materials, and third-party services. 

·       Ensure delivery timing to meet project schedule requirements at the lowest cost, consistent with the other requirements. 

·       Preparation of a Procurement Plan for the project, identifying all key equipment, materials and third-party contract services required, purchasing / contracting strategy proposed, proposed vendors, budget cost estimate. 

·       Preparation of an approved vendor list for the project.

·       Preparation and issue of request for quotation packages to vendors.

·       Evaluation of vendor bids and preparation of recommendations for award. 

·       Lead and manage the procurement team to ensure delivery of materials, supplies, equipment, and services to meet project requirements within budget and on schedule. 

·       Ensuring the alignment of their area with broader organizational initiatives and objectives.

Experience and Qualifications

·       University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. 

·       Extensive and relevant experience including supervisory, project management and/or technical experience.    

·       Ability to troubleshoot and develop tactical plans for implementing organizational goals and oversee the design of new concepts and ideas related to projects as well as functional area of expertise.

·       Broad knowledge of functional area and ability to implement and lead organizational project change effectively; Solutions are derived from interpreted and applied general information and consultation with other individuals.

·       Experience managing and directing work through supervisors or professionals leading others. 

·       Management experience in the selection, training, discipline, and remuneration of staff.

·       Experience with assigning program work that involves several projects and sets policy framework for project work.

·       Effectively communicates and presents complex proposals and reports to senior level management.

·       Participative management style with a cooperative team approach.

·       Advanced understanding of systems, processes and tools related to field. 

·       Experience with the development of new systems, processes, and tools.

·       Will understand business strategies, culture, and work to achieve results and can execute work beyond the scope of individual function.
