Purpose: 

Due to the growth in Worley's portfolio of capital projects, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering to lead and manage our Instrumentation & Controls teams across large-scale oil & gas capital projects. This leadership position is ideal for a candidate with a proven track record of managing teams of 30+ professionals, overseeing the Instrumentation & Controls components of complex projects, and delivering outstanding results. This role will either be based out of our office in Calgary, Alberta or our office in Edmonton, Alberta. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage the Instrumentation & Controls engineering team, providing direction, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful execution of projects. 
  • Oversee the Instrumentation & Controls portfolio within Worley’s oil & gas capital projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets. 
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and stakeholders to integrate Instrumentation & Controls deliverables into the overall project scope. 
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in the design, review, and approval of Instrumentation & Controls systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. 
  • Ensure all engineering and design work performed meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. 
  • Identify potential risks and challenges related to Instrumentation & Controls engineering and develop strategies to mitigate them. 
  • Support procurement, construction, and commissioning activities by providing technical advice and ensuring adherence to project specifications. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements in Instrumentation & Controls engineering. 

Technical and Industry Experience: 

  • Extensive experience in managing and leading large teams in Instrumentation & Controls engineering within the oil & gas industry. 
  • Strong portfolio management experience, with a focus on the Instrumentation & Controls aspects of large-scale oil & gas capital projects. 
  • Deep understanding of Instrumentation & Controls deliverables, including but not limited to: 
    • Panel (JB and Marshalling) Design 
    • P&IDs 
    • Loop, Wiring & Instrument Location Drawings 
    • Motor Control Schematics 
    • Instrument Installation Details 
    • Instrument Specifications (Datasheets) 
    • I/O Lists 
    • Bill of Materials 
    • Conduit/Tray/Cable Schedules 
    • Control Narratives 
    • Cause and Effect Diagrams 
    • Material Requisitions 
    • Construction or Engineering Work Packages 
  • Proficient in Instrumentation Calculation/Selection for various measurement techniques (e.g., Flow, Level, Temperature, Pressure). 
  • Familiarity with SAP (Systems Applications and Products) and KMS (Key Management System) is preferred. 
  • Experience participating in and leading HAZOP/LOPA studies. 
  • Previous work experience with Worley or a Worley legacy company is considered an asset. 
  • Previous engineering work experience on Middle East-based oil & gas capital projects is considered an asset. 

Education, Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: 

  • P.Eng registered with APEGA. 
  • Accredited Engineering Degree in General Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Extensive experience in Instrumentation & Controls design, engineering, and leadership. 
  • Exceptional communication, team-leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and provide oversight to multiple projects and teams simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
