Purpose:


We are currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Markham, Ontario.


Worley is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Estimator to prepare and supervise the development and presentation of capital and operating cost estimates for national and international mining projects.  

The ideal candidate will bring significant expertise in all facets of North and South American mining projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to the preparation and supervision of cost estimates in accordance with Worley’s robust set of processes and procedures for all levels of project maturity.

  • Provide innovative solutions to cost estimating problems.

  • Provide cost estimating guidance to projects following industry norms.

  • Support the development of future benchmarking.

  • Complete estimate planning activities including; establishment of the estimating methodologies and alignment of cost estimating principles applicable to the estimate preparation.

  • Review design scope criteria and quantities for completeness and coordinate with the project to team to ensure completeness of estimating inputs.

  • Compare and analyze scope, quantities and cost data between projects.  

  • Develop escalation model where required and assist with the development of owners cost.

  • Coordinate identification of areas of risk in the compilation of cost estimates and evaluate appropriate levels of contingency.  Where necessary, assist with Monte Carlo type risk analysis of costs estimates to determine contingency.

  • Ensure sound quality of cost estimates adhering to the Worley Cost Estimating review procedures.

  • Prepare and present cost estimating information to management and clients.

  • Provide supervision and assistance to planners in the development and integration of individual schedules.

  • Review or assist in reviewing schedule/cost engineering and material control related provisions or proposals and develop supporting data for contract negotiations.

  • Assist in supervising the team, to include;

    • Provide on the job' training.

    • Provide mentorship to subordinates and graduates.

       

What you will bring:

Technical and Industry Experience: 

  • Professionally, the successful candidate must have the appropriate technical qualification with relevant years’ experience in a similar role in a multi discipline Engineering environment.

  • Effective communicator, with the ability to interface professionally with client stakeholders.

  • Extensive experience developing Mining, Minerals & Metals estimates.

  • Thorough technical and practical estimating skills and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.

  • Knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.

  • Knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.

  • Highly competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office® and discipline specific software and tools. Cleopatra and Aspen experience is an asset.

  • Thorough technical, practical and leadership experience in the relevant discipline, including experience in project engineering and management with specialized estimating expertise.

  • A thorough understanding of project planning and scheduling experience and demonstrable leadership and managing a team across multi-disciplinary and large scale projects.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • A recognized degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent qualification/experience. Ideally in Engineering or Construction Management
