Job Responsibilities:
- Recent experience of HV, MV electrical design to local and International standards gained within a relevant engineering sector.
- LV experience would be an advantage.
- Extensive experience in the production, design, evaluation and specification of electrical power and control systems, including the production of electricity supply, switchgear and motor control center, instrumentation, and cabling in detailed design packages
- Must have thorough knowledge of National Electrical Code, IEEE, ANSI, IESNA, NFPA and IEC Standards.
- Medium voltage power distribution substation one-line diagram and equipment layout of major equipment including medium voltage switchgears.
- Medium voltage power distribution layout with cables in duct banks and direct buried and corresponding ampacity calculations.
- Calculations for demand load estimates, for sizing major equipment and circuits and selective protection coordination.
- Underground and exposed conduit and cable tray runs.
- Hazardous area electrical installation experience.
- Coordinate Electrical, Instrumentation and Telecoms cable rack inputs into 3D computer design model, including clash checking and material requirement outputs.(Note E, I & T groups will be individually responsible for inputting their equipment into any 3D CAD model).
- Must have sound overall experience in designing systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. Must be capable to design and calculate for high voltage (115 to 380 kV), medium voltage (13.8 to 34.5 kV) and low voltage power systems.
- Must have used ETAP or other software to perform fault current, load flow and stability studies for power networks and grids.
- Experienced in preparation of Bid Documents.
- Fire protection and communication systems one line diagrams and physical layout of equipment and devices.
- Experience of working with P&IDs to create equipment, instrumentation, valve and load schedules.
- SCADA Systems design.
- Project engineering experience and track record of OEM and interface management. Include evaluation of OEM proposals, technical questions, project design documentation and drawings, review and approval of safety documentation and management of safe systems of work.
- Field experience during all stages of project life Construction, Commissioning & start up and be able to communicate with team leaders of a multi-discipline team is desired and will act as a plus.
- Performs field inspections and provides professional field support as necessary during construction phases.
- Experience in the fields of power systems analysis and of building services (in addition to the above) would be useful.
- A practical appreciation of electrical safe systems of work (previous experience as an Electrical Authorised Engineer will be beneficial).
- Experience of testing, setting to work, and the commissioning of electrical equipment and control systems.
- Knowledge of various methods of contract procurement.
Education Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
Industry Specific Experience: Industrial Project and Port Project experience preferred
Degree Qualification. Bachelor degree level (with proven substantial design experience) in Electrical Engineering
- A recognized and relevant engineering degree.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering; management, project management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent.
