Technical Competency
· Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
· Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
· Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
· Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.
· Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
· Technical supervision of project designated Civil Structural designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duty.
· Preparation /checking of Specifications, data sheets.
· Performance of bid evaluation and vendor document review and approval
· Review the production of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports and follow required checking procedures.
· Review civil drawings and documents for building services drawings, such as: electrification, lighting, plumbing, and flooring, schedule of doors and windows, furniture and fixture details.
· Review civil drawings and documents, such as: foundation layouts, area pavement details, area drainage details, road works details, etc.
Project Execution
· Knows the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
· Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.
· Supports Lead Engineer in monitoring quality activities, drives and participates in squad checking, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.
· Assist Project Team in project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules
· Manage Civil Structural design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
· Prepare and participate in weekly Civil Structural meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
· Review and approve all related technical documents and coordinate with the Lead Engineer.
· Review and advice on layouts, site preparation, etc., during technical evaluation stage of bidder’s proposals to assess technical capability and ensure compliance with project specifications.
· Execute verification, studies and detail design following best engineering practices and optimization in term of cost, construction simplicity, operability and maintainability, HSSE.
· Carry out the design and technical reviews for all areas of work such as land surveying, geo-technical and site investigation, roads, buildings, drainage systems and retaining walls, etc.
· Review design specifications for reinforced concrete, buildings, earthworks, roads and underground networks, piling works, etc.
· Review Scope of Work and technical specification for civil construction subcontracts.
Project Deliverables
· Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations.
· Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursues customer approval.
· Reviews documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.
· Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable.
· Identify and review new technology development which could be applicable in providing more cost effective facilities.
· Perform discipline specific engineering services such as:
a) Identify and report changes to project scope;
b) Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;
c) Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports;
d) Provide assistance during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
e) Review specifications for construction material, such as: lighting, plumbing, doors & windows, flooring, furniture and fixtures.
Procurement Support
· Incorporates information from multiple sources into equipment/material specifications, data sheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions.
· Reviews similar documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.
· Selects and documents correct materials/equipment for application/service.
· Prepares/compiles accurate requisitions.
· Prepares/compiles accurate inspection, testing and vendor document requirements.
· Produces accurate datasheets.
· Produces accurate materials specifications.
· Prepares Technical Bid Analysis and associated reports.
Site Support
· Seeks input from knowledgeable sources, participates in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews, and ensures that requirements are incorporated into engineering/design.
· Works with site personnel to resolve issues.
· Create plans or documents that supports construction, testing, commissioning, operations, maintenance, or decommissioning.
· Review and approve projects modifications as-built documents.
· Leads on-site support for construction, commissioning, or turn over.
· Conduct site verification and data collection of existing and new facilities as part of study preparation
Quality Assurance
Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems
Safety
· Responsible for personal safety safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures
· Promoting health, safety and environmental awareness.
Job Specific Knowledge:
· Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to HSE management and its associated requirements in a project environment
· Specialized expertise of the regulations, codes and standards and a good understanding of onshore engineering practices applicable to and Civil Structural design engineering for oil and gas/infrastructure facilities.
· Ensure recognised onshore engineering practices applicable to Civil Structural design are adopted.
· Experienced in design specifications for reinforced concrete, buildings, earthworks, roads and underground networks, piling works, etc.
· Specialized experience in developing calculations for reinforced concrete structures, pipe rack, pipe bridges, equipment & machine foundations, piling works and drain collection systems, etc.
· Specialized knowledge in studies for equipment foundations and concrete structures.
· Familiar with Industrial/International Codes and Standards BS, UBC, IBC, AISC, API, ACI, ASCE, Chevron.
· Expertise with civil/structural software such as: StaadPro, Sap 2000, Etabs, Safe, Autocad and others
Qualifications:
·Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university
·MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage.
Industry Specific Experience-
Minimum years’ experience, some of which has been in conceptual studies, FEED and detailed design of onshore structures
Minimum Years of experience in Oil and Gas Industry experience in green-field and brown-field projects.
