Purpose:

Senior legal professional within the EMEA Legal team and responsible for developing and implementing legal and contracting strategies. May lead or contribute to cross-functional projects. Develops and supports policies, procedures, and training programs aligned with organizational goals. Provides advice, interpretation, and guidance to senior management and officers regarding a variety of legal and contractual topics.

Responsibilities:

  • Senior-level lawyer with substantial relevant experience, knowledge and skill in reviewing, drafting and negotiating large EPC or EPCM contracts and providing support, post award.
  • Train, coach and mentor more junior attorneys in the EMEA region, or within the wider company, in the matters of their specific knowledge and/or experience.
  • Potential to act as the legal business partner for a Global Operations SVP, providing advice and guidance to the Global Operations SVP and their leadership teams regarding contracts, risks to the business and various legal and business matters.
  • Reports to the General Counsel EMEA and collaborates closely with senior leadership, regional generalist attorneys, CoE teams, MPP/strategic teams, and cross-functional teams to manage legal risk, support business objectives, and build legal capability across the EMEA.
  • Review and negotiate complex customer contracts within the EMEA region.
  • Handle and resolve complex matters in collaboration with the relevant CoE teams.
  • As the capture team Legal lead, advise Major Projects capture teams on contractual and other legal risks and issues and by drafting, reviewing and negotiating the relevant contract.
  • As the Legal lead, advise Major Projects in the execution stage by providing legal advice regarding change management, commercial issues and potential claims and disputes with the customer and third parties.
  • Participate in the Major Projects and/or Construction & EPC Working Groups in collaboration with the relevant GC’s.

What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  •  Relevant years of experience, with in-house experience preferred.
  • Decision Making:
    Makes strategic decisions with broad impact across functions and regions. Advises senior leadership on legal risk and business strategy.
  • Supervision Received:
    Operates with broad authority and minimal supervision; expected to lead initiatives and influence direction.
  • Supervision Authority:
    May lead legal or cross-functional teams or task forces on a project basis.
  • Communication:
    Highly effective communicator both orally and in writing; presents complex strategies to senior management; influences decision-making and drives alignment.
  • Systems, Processes & Tools:
    May lead development of legal tools, templates, and training programs.


Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Requires a Juris Doctor (JD) or legal degree from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in at least one Worley jurisdiction, to the extent legally required in the relevant jurisdiction.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a global or matrixed organization preferred.
