Purpose:

Worley is a global professional services company that specializes in providing expertise in the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors and is seeking a Sales and Use Tax Manager in our Houston, TX office with the flexibility to work remotely if not based in Houston, TX.
The Sales and Use Tax Manager will report to the Sr. Tax Manager and will work closely with the Worley US tax group.
Responsibilities:
Serving as a subject matter expert for US sales and use tax for multi-billion-dollar projects:
- Liaise with Sr. Tax Manager and Tax Counsel to advise project personnel about sales and use tax implications for the project.
- Primary point of contact for the external client regarding sales and use tax issues inherent in the project.
- Assist with taxability determination for the projects related to AP and AR transactions.
- Perform sales and use tax research as needed.
- Gather data and assist with responses to state notices and assessment inquiries.
- Download and review system reports to support monthly sales and use tax filings.
- Coordinate sales and use tax filings and payments with internal stakeholders and ensure billable taxes are invoiced to the client.
- Perform sales and use tax accruals and collaborate with internal stakeholders to evaluate unreconciled balances and assist with resolution.
- Assist with exemption certificate management and with vendor tax disputes.
- Support sales & use tax audits by gathering data (pulling GL, details, invoices, and POs).
- Manage and extract queries and reports from ERP systems.
- Notify Project Finance and Project Accountants of discrepancies for proper reporting.
- Compile and maintain shipping and delivery information table.
- Help ensure any new projects are set up properly and inform Tax Team.
What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in US sales and use tax including experience with managing US sales and use tax audits.
- Knowledge of US sales and use taxation in the engineering and construction industry is a plus.
- Must be detail oriented with good organizational and analytical skills and a strong sense of urgency.
- Must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, able to work independently, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Working knowledge of Oracle, ERM, Power BI, Alteryx are a plus.
- Experience or proficiency with PinPoint, Avalara, TTR, OneSource, Sabrix, Vertex or other transaction tax calculation systems are a plus.

- Ability to troubleshoot complex tax issues.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
Preferred:
- CPA, Master’s in Accounting/Taxation, or CMI are preferred.
