Primary objective
Monitor and drive the delivery of vendor engineering. Ensure quality checks, with special attention to interface management and constructability.
Specific Accountabilities
· Perform engineering design review duties associated with belt conveyors, stock houses, cooling water system and other supporting infrastructure of steel plants or mineral extraction / processing plants.
· Engineering duties will include review of package contractors’ drawings and documents, checking interface with other discipline designs, initiate or review equipment selection and specification, detail design in collaboration with designers and bid evaluation/ vendor document review and approval.
· Participate in HAZOP and other similar safety reviews.
· Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system.
· Safety – Responsible for personal safety; be conversant with industry standard safe working practices for the Minerals and Metals industry. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
· Guide vendor’s team to meet the project targets in terms of schedule and quality.

Essential Skills/Experience
· Degree in Mechanical engineering.
· 14 years + plus experience within the minerals and metals industry.
· Adequate knowledge of material handling equipment such as belt conveyors, hoppers, screens and feeders.
· Work experience in a pelletising plant or an iron ore beneficiation plant will be useful.
· Work is performed in accordance with broad technical guidelines and with minimal supervision.
· Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritisation of work to achieve them.
