Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Support and drive continuous improvement, ensuring suitable mitigation plans are in
place.
Assist the business in delivering a systematic, fit-for-purpose, and cost-effective approach
to managing process safety risks to ALARP
Facilitate / participate in the Risk Management Process, including in design and
operationalizing the HSE Safety Case and Bowties.
Facilitate / participate in identification of Safety Critical Elements (SCE) and performance
standards.
Participate in all project reviews that may impact technical safety and provide input to
meet OQGN standards and philosophies.
Plan, organize, or lead risk assessments, selecting the best-suited Process Hazard Analysis
(PHA) methodology such as HAZID, HAZOP, and What Ifs, and ensure timely closure of
recommended actions.
Drive Process Safety assurance and prepare the site for internal, and agency Process
Safety reviews and audits.
Participate in investigations for major/high potential process safety-related incidents and
ensure adequate closure of identified actions; support root cause failure analysis related
to process safety incidents/near misses.
Introduce the concept of MAH management and barriers on both sides of the bowtie to
Prevent, Detect, Control, Mitigate, Manage Evacuation, Escape, and Rescue.
Serve as a resource within the engineering function to assist in processing facilities
safeguarding, hazardous area classification, overpressure protection studies and related
standards / procedures initiation and revisions.
