Principal Geotechnical Engineer - Dams & Tailings

About You

To be successful in this role, it is envisaged that you will possess consulting experience in the following technical areas:

• Geotechnical Site Investigation for dams and tailing dams
• Water Storage Facility (WSF) design or
• Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) design
• Dam break and hydrology (understanding).
• Geohydrology (understanding)
• Spillway hydraulics (understanding)
• Impact of seismic event on structures
• Seepage and stability modelling.
• Understanding flow and seismic liquefaction
• Understand the environmental impacts
• Possible piping though embankment and foundation based on different soil types.
• Function of different soil zones within a dam embankment.
• Construction material assessment and construction support/management
• Geotechnical and Operational review of TSF's or dams according to the latest international guidelines
• Construction specifications
• Material take-off.
• Preparation of detail design construction drawings.
• Dam safety reviews/audits and operational support
• Project management, resourcing and execution
• Client liaison and building relationships

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering that is recognised by the Washington Accord
• Experience working in a consulting environment on Water Dams and/or Tailings Dams projects
• Strong communication skills
• A passion and enthusiasm for delivering projects to a high quality in a collaborative manner
• Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills
