Principal Geotechnical Engineer - Dams & Tailings
About You
To be successful in this role, it is envisaged that you will possess consulting experience in the following technical areas:
- Geotechnical Site Investigation for dams and tailing dams
- Water Storage Facility (WSF) design or
- Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) design
- Dam break and hydrology (understanding).
- Geohydrology (understanding)
- Spillway hydraulics (understanding)
- Impact of seismic event on structures
- Seepage and stability modelling.
- Understanding flow and seismic liquefaction
- Understand the environmental impacts
- Possible piping though embankment and foundation based on different soil types.
- Function of different soil zones within a dam embankment.
- Construction material assessment and construction support/management
- Geotechnical and Operational review of TSF's or dams according to the latest international guidelines
- Construction specifications
- Material take-off.
- Preparation of detail design construction drawings.
- Dam safety reviews/audits and operational support
- Project management, resourcing and execution
- Client liaison and building relationships
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering that is recognised by the Washington Accord
- Experience working in a consulting environment on Water Dams and/or Tailings Dams projects
- Strong communication skills
- A passion and enthusiasm for delivering projects to a high quality in a collaborative manner
- Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills
