About the role:

To provide discipline specific design and drafting services to Worley and its clients, and technical support and supervision within the discipline and to other disciplines.

 

Job Responsibility:

 

·       Supports the business by communicating team resource loading and skill requirements to the direct supervisor.

·       Ensures the project work is covered for vacation and unplanned absences. Mentors/trains and supports the delivery of training.

·       Encourages knowledge of and compliance with requirements and processes.

·       Works to resolve inter-discipline, vendor, and customer issues.

·       Ensures discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.

·       Functions as a departmental representative at various meetings; may serve on behalf of superior as assigned.

·       Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.

·       Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.

·       Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.

·       Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence. Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.

·       Assists in determining issues, defining problems, identifying the pros and cons of multiple solutions. Makes recommendations for technical deviations from client specifications or technical queries. Assists in creating final documentation incorporating all relevant information and the pursuit of client authorization.

·       Regularly review and challenge design procedures and instructions; simplify and improve them to facilitate awareness, understanding and application.

·       Supports management of project change and progressing for the discipline and works with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability.

·       Plans discipline quality, monitors quality activities, drives and participates in squad checking, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.

·       Monitor design/drafting estimating norms within asset for own discipline.

·       Develop and promote drafting and CAD initiatives to improve cost effectiveness of design / drafting work within own discipline.

·       Responsible for the overall delivery of design and drafting of onshore steel structures, onshore foundation, concrete structures and buildings including producing design sketches for junior designers.

Qualification & Experience required:

·       A thorough knowledge of the codes and standards and a good understanding of onshore/offshore engineering practices applicable to Civil and Structural design for oil and gas facilities.

·       Able to make difficult decisions and lead and manage others in changing business conditions.

·       Competent with the project estimating process and can input design deliverables into the estimating module.

·       Conversant with brownfield engineering principles and the ability to incorporate them into design.

·       Able to manage multiple projects for Civil Structural teams including all necessary reporting.

·       Able to develop structural connections for greenfield and brownfield conditions.

·       Expert knowledge in interpreting technical drawing.

·       Extensive experience in Basic engineering drawing, Basic engineering detail drafting, Advanced engineering detail drafting and checking, and Advanced structural detail drafting.

·       Specialized knowledge in 2D drawings using computer-aided design systems.

Specialized knowledge in creating 3D drawings using computer-aided design systems.

·       Applying Expertise & Technology:

Applies specialist and detailed technical expertise.

Develops job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.

Demonstrates an understanding of different organizational departments and functions.

·       Analysing:

Shall analyze engineering/design problems methodically and arrive at satisfactory solutions.

Analyses as-built data and all other sources of information.

Demonstrate an understanding of how one issue may be a part of a much larger system.

·       Planning and Organising:

Prioritizes what needs to be done and has a sense of urgency about achieving outcomes.

Manage structural engineering design and any design changes within budget and schedule.

Can assign team members to projects systematically to meet demands, taking into account the varying experience, competence, capability, and workload levels of individuals within the group.

Plans activities and projects well in advance and takes account of possible changing circumstances.

Monitors performance against deadlines and milestones.

·       Delivering Results and Meeting Customer Expectations:

Review structural design integrity of work scope and maintenance of standards.

Takes responsibility for customer satisfaction and solving customer problems/ issues.

Focuses on customer needs and satisfaction.

Sets high standards for quality and quantity and monitors and maintains quality and productivity.

Excellent customer focus and able to consistently meet Worley and its client's needs.

Ensures the design team is aware of and complying with the client’s Basis of Design and applicable regulations and codes.

·       Following Instructions and Procedures:

Competent user of workflow procedures for delivering Civil Structural deliverables.

Familiar with Worley Civil Structural Standards & Codes relevant to Brownfields Engineering Design.

·       Coping with Pressures and Setbacks:

Maintains a positive outlook at work.

Keeps emotions under control during difficult situations.

Industry Specific Experience:

·       Decent proven experience in detailed Civil Structural design gained with design contractors and/or oil/gas companies within the industry.

·       Extensive design experience in the relevant discipline in the same or similar industry, and, where relevant, experience managing and leading multi-disciplinary projects and teams.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:        

  • Trade Apprenticeship, Certificate, Diploma, Advance Diploma of Engineering Technology in Civil Structural discipline

HSE Capability:    

  • Maintain HSE focus with the team to ensure OHSE requirements.
  • Demonstrate behaviour and business practices commensurate with a culture of the world’s best health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to:

1.       personal well-being.

2.       healthy and safe workplaces and activities; and

3.       Continuously improve Worley's health, safety, and environmental performance.

·       Identify and report work hazards and incidents.

IT Skills:      

·       Sound knowledge of routine civil engineering software like STAAD Pro, Mat3D, Foundation3D, Navisworks etc.

Other:

·       Good English communication skills (spoken & written)

·       A person of integrity who is trusted by others and consistently honors their commitments.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups.

·       Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to learn and continuously improve on performance.

·       Able to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity.
