Purpose of the Role
As a Pre-Commissioning Lead – Instrumentation at Worley, you will play a critical role in the successful planning, execution, and delivery of pre-commissioning activities, ensuring Instrumentation systems meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. This position is instrumental in bridging the journey between construction and operation, contributing to our purpose of delivering a more sustainable world. Working within the framework of our global completions standards, you will ensure that all systems are tested, validated, and commissioned to support operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities
- Champion the implementation and adaptation of project safety management systems across all phases of pre-commissioning and commissioning, ensuring alignment with Worley’s safety-first culture.
- Lead Instrumentation-focused pre-commissioning activities including energization checks, system validation, functional loop checks, and vendor coordination.
- Develop and execute detailed plans for non-energized and energized testing activities, incorporating system scoping, procedural development, schedule integration, and resource alignment.
- Facilitate compliance with all engineering procedures, international standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Oversee the quality assurance and technical validation of Instrumentation deliverables from contractors, including redlining of IFC drawings, test records, and calibration certifications.
- Provide subject matter input into Completions Management Systems (CMS), including the review and approval of Inspection and Test Records (ITRs).
- Monitor the safe and compliant installation, preservation, and pre-commissioning of Instrumentation equipment, ensuring adherence to HSE and technical standards.
- Review contractor documentation and ensure accurate execution of method statements, inspection plans, and commissioning procedures.
- Interface directly with DCS and Automation coordinators to ensure seamless integration across all Instrumentation systems.
- Organize and lead toolbox talks, daily execution briefings, and progress meetings to align teams and ensure clear communication of goals and issues.
- Support the operations team through commissioning and start-up, ensuring readiness and operational handover of Instrumentation systems.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by participating in incident investigations, delivering HSE inductions, and continuously identifying and mitigating risks.
- Provide guidance and leadership to commissioning teams, ensuring competency development, resource planning, and performance oversight.
- Report progress, identify constraints, and implement solutions to achieve safe, efficient, and on-schedule delivery of pre-commissioning activities.
- Contribute to the achievement of Worley’s sustainability targets by identifying opportunities for innovation, improved execution methods, and environmental efficiencies.
Qualifications / Skillset
- Degree or diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, or Journeyperson Certificate with equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated success in leading Instrumentation commissioning and pre-commissioning activities, with significant experience in complex energy, petrochemical, or power generation environments.
- Minimum of ten years of professional experience, with at least five years in a leadership capacity within Commissioning.
- Proficient in the use of Completions Management Systems and familiar with EPC contract environments.
- In-depth understanding of Permit to Work systems and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate diverse teams, with excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong capability in technical problem-solving and risk mitigation, with a focus on achieving safe and efficient execution.
- Skilled in the application of international codes, standards, and project-specific requirements in Instrumentation systems.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, build collaborative relationships, and maintain clear and respectful communication.
- Adept with software tools for planning, reporting, and system integration.
