The Role

As a Piping Stress Engineer with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc….

  • Experienced piping stress engineer with Graduate Mechanical/Chemical/Power/Production engineering degree with a consultancy organization / EPC company and/or technical services department of a Metal / Mineral / Alumina Refining / Chemical Processing plant.
  • Stress Analysis: Conduct stress analysis using engineering software (such as Caesar II, AutoPIPE, or similar tools) to evaluate the behavior of piping systems under different thermal, pressure, and loading conditions. Identify potential areas of concern and propose design modifications to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, API, EN Standard etc.).
  • Design Support: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including piping designers, process engineers, structural engineers, and others to develop piping layouts and support structures that meet project requirements while considering factors such as safety, operability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Code Compliance: Stay updated with industry codes, standards, and regulations governing piping design and analysis. Ensure that piping systems adhere to applicable codes and standards, and provide technical guidance to ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk Assessment: Perform risk assessments and reliability analyses to identify potential failure modes and mitigate risks associated with piping systems. Evaluate the consequences of piping failures and recommend appropriate measures to enhance system reliability and safety.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering calculations, reports, and documentation to support piping design and analysis activities. Communicate findings, recommendations, and technical information effectively to stakeholders, including project managers, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate piping-related issues, failures, or incidents, and provide technical support to resolve them in a timely manner. Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of similar issues in the future.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance processes to ensure that piping design and analysis activities meet the required quality standards and project specifications. Review design deliverables, drawings, and specifications to verify accuracy and completeness.

About You

 To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in piping stress analysis software such as Caesar II, AutoPIPE, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials properties, and mechanical behavior.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, API, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in the Metals and Minerals, oil and gas, petrochemical, or power generation industry is often preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in piping stress analysis and design, with progressively increasing responsibilities. Senior positions may require 7-10 years or more of relevant experience.
