We have a fantastic opportunity for an Operations Engineer to join our Remote Operations Centre (ROC) based in South Melbourne. Reporting to the Remote Operations Manager, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our customer’s assets from a centralised Remote Monitoring Centre.Our team manages a range of power generation assets across Australia, including gas pipelines, wind farms, and power stations. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring the effective management and optimal performance of these assets.

This role sits within in our Power Services division which provides operations and maintenance services to over 30 power generation assets across Australia. What you’ll do

  • Monitor and operate Remote Operations Centre assets in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Help keep our site teams safe, through our extreme weather notification system and lone worker management systems.
  • Carry out preliminary diagnostics on plant issues and advise our O&M and Asset Management teams.
  • Carry out preliminary condition and performance monitoring of assets and advise our Asset Management teams.
  • Carry out preliminary predicative analytics and advise engineering teams.
  • Immediately report defects, operational issues, and faults.
  • Maintain and update ROC policies and standards.

What you’ll have

  • Relevant engineering qualification. Certificates and Diplomas will be considered with strong relevant experience and qualifications.
  • Condition monitoring qualification (VCAT1 or equivalent) (Preferred not mandatory).
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of predictive analytics.
  • Knowledge of basic gas laws and thermodynamics.
  • Solid understanding of renewable technologies.
  • Strong understanding of relevant heavy industrial plant & equipment. Must able to read and understand P&IDs and PFDs.
  • Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure. Must be able to read and understand SLDs.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA, DCS and remote access communication systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficient in the use of the Microsoft 365 and SharePoint suite.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Flexibility to work rostered shift work.
