Key Responsibilities:
The individual supports the delivery of a facility and its supporting infrastructure, systems, and processes that are fully prepared for safe, efficient, and sustainable operations from day one. The role focuses on executing the operational readiness program in collaboration with engineering, supply chain, construction, commissioning, and operations and maintenance (O&M) teams. The Operational Readiness Engineer ensures that readiness plans, procedures, training, and documentation are effectively implemented, verified, and transitioned to operations. The position provides technical expertise, coordination, and hands-on support to bridge the gap between project delivery and operational functionality. |
The Operational Readiness Engineer contributes to ensuring that systems, processes, and personnel are technically and procedurally prepared to support safe and reliable operations upon handover. Demonstrated ability to execute operational readiness tasks and deliverables in accordance with corporate standards, procedures, and project execution plans. Applies sound engineering judgment to support decisions impacting asset operability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost. Strong understanding of project-to-operations interfaces, asset data structures, and maintenance system integration. |
Exercises technical and procedural judgment within established readiness frameworks and engineering standards. Recommends solutions to issues impacting operational readiness deliverables, data quality, and system handover. Escalates significant design, scope, or schedule risks to the Operational Readiness Manager or project leadership as required. |
Operates under general direction from the Operational Readiness Manager or a senior readiness lead. Work assignments are defined by project milestones, readiness plans, and deliverable schedules. Receives guidance on priorities, complex issues, and stakeholder coordination, but is expected to work independently in assigned technical areas. |
May provide functional guidance to junior engineers, technicians, or contractors assisting with readiness deliverables such as procedure development, data validation, or asset tagging. Typically does not have direct supervisory authority, but may coordinate small work groups or task-based activities. |
Acts as a key technical interface between project engineering, commissioning, and operations teams. Prepares and maintains readiness documentation, progress reports, and data verification records. Participates in meetings and presentations to communicate readiness status, technical findings, and corrective actions. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential to ensure information consistency across teams. |
Proficient in operational readiness and asset management systems, including CMMS, AIM, APM, and document control platforms. Applies and supports the use of readiness tracking tools, project databases, and engineering software to maintain data accuracy and progress visibility. Familiar with ISO 55001 asset management principles and integrated project delivery tools used in readiness and commissioning workflows. Supports the continuous improvement of readiness templates, checklists, and data standards. |
Qualification:
Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
Relevant years in commissioning on industrial/EPCM projects.
