Mechanical Engineer Lead (Static or Rotating)

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Design
Oversee the full mechanical package: static and rotating equipment
Develop and review datasheets, specifications, and technical submissions
Apply and enforce relevant industry standards and codes
Procurement & Vendor Management
Perform technical bid evaluations and material requisitions
Ensure vendor quality, compliance, and timely delivery; oversee documentation
On-Site Construction & Commissioning Support
Audit site installation, alignment, and mounting of rotating equipment; witness FAT/SAT and commissioning events
Resolve technical queries, deviations, and non-conformances during construction and startup
Cross-disciplinary Coordination
Interface with Process, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, and HSE teams to ensure design integrity and constructability
Quality, Risk & Safety Management
Participate in HAZOPs and safety reviews; ensure adherence to HSE standards
Implement quality control, risk identification, mitigation, and “lessons learned” processes
Team Management & Mentorship
Lead, mentor, and assess competency of junior engineers and site technicians
Track performance (man-hours, schedule, budgets), escalate risks, and manage corrective actions
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
Experienced in mechanical engineering focused on static and rotating equipment and in major Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Heavy Industry projects
Ability to operate under tight schedules and high-pressure environments
Collaborative with strong interface skills across disciplines
Initiative in driving continuous improvement and standardization
Previous experience in Middle East construction environments is a plus
