The legal team in The Hague (the Netherlands) supports and advises the business in the western part of Mainland Europe on many aspects of our numerous high profile and mainly sustainable projects.  We are now looking to recruit a legal counsel for Worley Projects GmbH in Cologne to join this team and become part of our respected and ambitious company.  The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel EMEA & APAC.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

·     Provides legal support to Worley’s German operations and other Worley offices executing work in Germany. Supports other regions within Worley if and when needed

·     Reviews Invitations to Bid and reviews, drafts and negotiates a variety of engineering contracts with customers and others as well as any associated documents (e.g non-disclosure agreements, joint venture agreements and bank guarantees) in support of the proposal preparation and contract finalization. Works closely together with other departments to protect the company against legal risks and reviews various agreements and documents involving leases, licenses, purchases, sales, insurance, etc. 

·     Advises on all aspects of legal risk and acts as a true business partner for the management of the company

·     Advises on project issues and dispute resolution

·     Works with and manages external advisors

·     Supports corporate transactions

·     Delivers internal training on legal and contractual matters

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a university degree in German law and has 5-7 years of relevant experience as a legal counsel with preferably an international engineering and/or construction company or with a major law firm. In addition, the candidate will have, amongst others, the following skills:

·         Commercial awareness and a business mentality

·         A focus on risk and the ability to provide solutions that meet the needs of the business

·         Ability to persuade and influence people at all levels in the organization

·         Self-starter and ability to work independently

·         IT-skills (Microsoft Office)

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Fluent in German and English and

·         Willingness to travel
