Job Overview:

The Lead Contracts Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the contractual and commercial aspects of the construction phase of an oil and gas project at a site-based location. This includes pre- and post-award contract administration, change management, cost control support, claims mitigation, and ensuring all contractual obligations are met by contractors and vendors. The role requires close coordination with engineering, procurement, construction, and legal teams to ensure project delivery within scope, budget, and timeline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management:

    • Lead the preparation, review, negotiation, and administration of construction-related contracts (EPC, subcontractor, vendor agreements).

    • Ensure contracts comply with company policies, legal requirements, and project objectives.

    • Interpret contract terms and conditions to advise stakeholders on rights, obligations, and remedies.

  • Change and Claims Management:

    • Manage the change order process, ensuring timely assessment, approval, and documentation of variations.

    • Assess and respond to contractor claims and dispute resolutions, engaging legal teams when necessary.

    • Maintain risk registers related to contract execution.

  • Project Controls Interface:

    • Support project cost control by providing contractual insights related to budget performance and forecasting.

    • Collaborate with planners and schedulers to assess contractual impacts of project delays or accelerations.

  • Stakeholder Coordination:

    • Act as the point of contact for all contractual matters on-site, liaising between project management, engineering, procurement, and contractors.

    • Participate in site meetings and interface regularly with construction and field engineering teams.

  • Compliance & Documentation:

    • Ensure accurate contract filing and documentation.

    • Ensure contractor compliance with HSE, QA/QC, and local regulatory requirements as per contractual terms.

    • Generate regular contract administration reports for senior management.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, or related field.

  • Relevant experience in contracts administration, with at least a lead role on site-based oil & gas construction projects.

  • Proven experience with major forms of contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, bespoke EPC contracts).

  • Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement processes, and construction project lifecycles.

  • Familiarity with construction scheduling, cost control tools, and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Willingness to work on a remote site location under rotational or long-term assignment conditions.
