Chemetics is a diversified technology company with expertise and know-how in the design, supply, and operation of various proprietary process systems and plants, to the chemical, water treatment, fertilizer, pulp and paper, and non-ferrous metals industries worldwide. We are currently seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. As part of Chemetics, a global leader in the design and supply of proprietary process systems and plants, you will contribute to the development of innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solutions for industries such as chemical, water treatment, fertilizer, pulp and paper, and non-ferrous metals. You will prepare detailed designs, specifications, and calculations, focusing on equipment and piping design. Collaborating with vendors and team members, you will act as a technical resource, ensuring projects are delivered safely, reliably, and efficiently. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data and calculations.
  • Equipment or piping design experience.
  • Development of datasheets and specifications, evaluation for purchase, vendor drawing review, material/quantity take-offs, and code review.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and team members.  
  • Act as a technical resource on projects. 

What you will bring:

Technical and Industry Experience: 

  • Intermediate level industry experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPS/EPC) projects.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Mechanical specification, datasheets, material selection, technical bid evaluation and vendor document review of rotating and packaged mechanical equipment .
    • Design and analysis of pressure vessels. Knowledge of applicable ASME/ API codes and standards.
    • Piping specification and stress analysis.
    • Proficiency in one or more of the following software: PV Elite, Compress, AutoCAD, SolidWorks/Inventor, CAESAR II/ AutoPIPE..
    • Understanding of fabrication, installation testing and constructability.
    • Chemical process facilities.
  • Prior experience in Sulphuric Acid Plant design and lump-sum Engineering and Procurement Services projects is an asset.  

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Already registered or eligible to be registered as a P.Eng.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $97,000 to $127,000

Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
