Purpose
As part of the Advisian team based in Vancouver, B.C you will assist in the delivery of engineering services and challenging projects. Advisian is a leading provider of Ports and Marine Terminal (PMT) services. As part of the PMT asset management group you will actively participate in a portfolio of projects consisting of maritime infrastructure condition assessments and maintenance and rehabilitation of transportation, industrial, and marine terminal infrastructure.
We are looking for a self-motivated Inspections Diver to join our growing team.
Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Conduct condition assessments including above water and underwater (dive) inspections (inspections take place outdoors in adverse weather conditions);
Underwater inspection of marine structures include; visual inspection, underwater video and photography, collecting thickness measurements of steel components, localized cleaning of piles, taking measurements, and collecting samples.
Operating specialized inspections equipment and the use of a multitude of hand tools;
Evaluate condition and significance of deterioration;
Analyze deteriorated components and assesses remaining service life;
Travel as required to perform inspections throughout B.C..
Qualifications
Unrestricted (preferred) (or Restricted) Surface Supply Commercial Diving Certificate from the Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC).
Hold an up to date “Fit to Dive” divers’ medical certificate with no restrictions.
Hold a valid First Aid and CPR, Dive Accident Management (DAM), and Oxygen Therapy (O2) certificate from an approved provider.
Ability and willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and comfortable in and around the water and boats.
Strong teamwork culture.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with clients and other team members.
Ability and willingness to travel occasionally in B.C and within Canada, as required.
Hold a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
The following would be considered an asset but are not required:
Hold a valid Transport Canada Small Non-Pleasure Domestic Vessel Basic Safety (SDV-BS) (MED A3) and/or Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)
Possesses a practical understanding of marine operations and general construction.
Diving experience related to underwater inspection.
Experience operating boats and driving a truck with boat trailer.
