The Project People (HR) Business Partner will be dedicated as the main focal point for our projects located in Saskatchewan, reporting directly to Canada Construction People Director. This position will be based in Regina or Saskatoon with regular travel to the BHP project located in Jansen, SK required.
Responsibilities:
This position will act as a business partner, advisor and coach to the Project Leadership team and will work within the overall People structure to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of people services. Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Lead workplace investigations and provide recommendations involving performance management, corrective actions, terminations, and accommodations;
HR Policy application and interpretation (i.e., Alcohol and Drug policy, Code of Conduct);
Support diversity, equality & inclusion initiatives for the project;
Ready, Response and Recover (R3) support;
Provide HR advisory support to leaders and ensure key HR practices are aligned with employment standards and provide integrated solutions to the organization that mitigates risk;
Maintain and foster business relationships to enable collaboration with all levels of the organization ensuring a high level of customer service;
Act as a true business partner to the project Leadership and Stakeholders, providing relevant and timely coaching and advice, challenging, and influencing behaviors and acting as a business ally;
Work with project leaders to encourage and foster a high performing culture;
Implement and maintain Human Resources and Employee Relations policies and project specific processes as required;
Ensure client satisfaction through responsiveness, follow-up, and thorough communications.
Experience needed:
Project experience on large complex projects with both staff and craft professionals
Progressive HR Generalist experience.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in EPC/EPCM experience, mining, construction, or other heavy industry,
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience along with post-secondary education; CPHR designation is an asset;
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients at all levels of the organization and influence decisions.
Ability to establish credibility quickly and be decisive utilizing well-developed critical thinking/analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills, negotiation and influencing skills.
Collaborative team player with demonstrated professional and emotional maturity and judgment to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
Self-starter and able to work both in a team environment and independently.
Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
Demonstrated proficiency in change management and managing complex employee relations matters.
Results oriented with solid time management/organization skills.
Flexible, adaptable, learns quickly demonstrates courage and self-awareness; and
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc).
