Purpose:
Join our dynamic team as a Junior or Graduate Technical Consultant, Water Scientist. You'll be dedicated to a top-tier customer’s oil sands operation in Fort McMurray, Alberta, working on a field rotation schedule of 14 days on-site (including mobilization and demobilization) followed by 14 days off. Accommodation while on rotation is provided at a lodge near the client’s site.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting field-related environmental monitoring activities such as groundwater and surface water sampling.
- Perform tasks under the supervision of the crew supervisor efficiently and accurately using standard methods and techniques.
- Assist in creating and presenting reports for team members and clients.
- Support in tracking and reporting field activity.
- Participate in safety discussions and associated documentation.
- Monitor for bear activity near the work team.
- Travel as required for various field programs is mandatory.
What you will bring
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Junior or Graduate-level field experience in sampling, monitoring, and report writing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging with project stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in remote wilderness settings, including monitoring for bear activity.
- Physically prepared to navigate uneven terrain and work in adverse weather conditions.
- Collaborative mindset and experience working in team environments.
- Previous consulting experience is preferred.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- A four-year Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree, a two-year Diploma in Natural Resource science, Environmental Science or a related field, and/or an environmental monitoring/technician course.
- Class 5 driver’s license.
- Familiarity with Argo operation
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $47,715 to $83,886.
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
