PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Director of Material Control is a senior leadership position responsible for all activities related to the planning, procurement, and control of materials, equipment, and third-party services on large and technically complex projects. This role ensures timely delivery in alignment with project schedules, while achieving the highest standards of quality and cost-efficiency. With a strategic vision aligned to Worley’s global sustainability and transformation goals, this leader drives cross-functional collaboration to support the execution of world-class projects in energy, chemicals, and resources.
Operating at the intersection of materials management and project execution, the Director of Material Control ensures seamless integration between procurement planning, vendor selection, supply chain execution, and field operations. This position directly contributes to Worley’s ambition to derive a majority of revenue from sustainability-related projects by helping deliver efficient, compliant, and transparent materials operations across the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead and manage all project-related material control and procurement operations, ensuring adherence to schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
· Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement plan that outlines the purchasing strategy, key equipment, third-party contract services, vendor recommendations, and budget estimates.
· Establish and maintain an approved vendor list that aligns with project needs, corporate standards, and client specifications.
· Oversee the preparation and issuance of Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages; evaluate vendor bids; and prepare award recommendations that support project objectives.
· Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and technical specifications for all procured materials and services, managing quality and performance from requisition through delivery.
· Lead cross-functional initiatives and special projects that extend beyond a single function, contributing to company-wide improvement in procurement, materials control, and supply chain management.
· Partner closely with engineering, project management, logistics, and construction teams to align procurement and materials timelines with overall project schedules.
· Mentor and develop materials management professionals across multiple disciplines, cultivating a high-performance, collaborative culture.
· Drive continuous improvement in systems, tools, and processes; contribute to the development and implementation of new technologies and methodologies.
· Represent the materials and procurement function in internal and external engagements, providing expert insight and leadership to senior stakeholders and clients.
What you will bring

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSET
· University degree in supply chain, engineering, business, construction management, or related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
· Significant experience (typically 20+ years) in material control, procurement, and supply chain management within large-scale industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects.
· Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams and procurement disciplines across complex global or regional project portfolios.
· Expertise in sourcing, negotiation, vendor qualification, and contract management, with a deep understanding of commercial and legal frameworks.
· Demonstrated ability to develop strategic procurement and materials control plans and guide tactical execution across departments.
· Advanced knowledge of digital systems, enterprise platforms (ERP), procurement databases, and project tracking tools.
· Strong decision-making capabilities for long-range planning and day-to-day tactical management of evolving project needs.
· Experience in establishing and guiding policies and frameworks that influence project or regional operations.
· Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, presenting complex information to senior leadership, external partners, and multidisciplinary teams.
