Job Purpose:

The Camp Inspector is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance, safety, and overall functioning of the camp facilities on construction sites. This includes monitoring camp accommodations, utilities, waste management, and other essential services for construction workers and staff. The role ensures that the camp complies with health, safety, and company standards, contributing to a positive living environment for personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Camp Facilities Management:

    • Inspect and assess the condition of camp accommodations.
    • Ensure that camp buildings and infrastructure are well-maintained and meet Worley company standards for cleanliness and safety.
    • Monitor utilities such as water, electricity, and HVAC systems, ensuring they are functioning properly.
  2. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

    • Conduct regular inspections of the camp to identify and address safety hazards and maintenance issues that could affect the health and safety of camp residents.
    • Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety, sanitation, food safety, and emergency evacuation protocols.
    • Ensure proper waste disposal procedures are being followed, including hazardous waste management when applicable.
    • Ensure that the camp complies with local regulations and industry standards for camp operations.
  3. Quality Assurance:

    • Monitor cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the camp.
    • Supervise cleaning staff or contractors to ensure cleaning tasks are completed according to schedule and meet required standards.
    • Ensure that all amenities are well-maintained and provided in accordance with company policies.
  4. Reporting and Documentation:

    • Maintain detailed records of all inspections, including any issues identified, corrective actions taken, and timelines for resolution.
    • Prepare regular reports on the condition of camp facilities and any maintenance requirements to be submitted to the Site Manager or Camp Manager.
    • Document and report any incidents or accidents related to camp facilities and recommend solutions to prevent recurrence.
  5. Camp Logistics and Support:

    • Ensure proper storage and management of camp supplies and medical supplies.
    • Monitor the camp’s recreational and wellness facilities, ensuring they are clean, functional, and accessible to all residents.
  6. Staff Coordination:

    • Supervise or work closely with the camp maintenance staff, housekeepers, and other personnel to ensure smooth operation of camp services.
    • Provide training and guidance on camp standards, safety, and cleanliness requirements.
    • Assist in resolving any complaints or issues raised by camp residents regarding accommodation, meals, or facilities.
  7. Security and Access Control:

    • Monitor the security of the camp, ensuring that access to the camp is controlled and that all personnel comply with security procedures.
    • Ensure that the camp is adequately lit and secure, especially during nighttime hours, and that safety measures (e.g., fire extinguishers, emergency exits) are clearly marked and accessible.
  8. Emergency Response:

    • Be prepared to take quick action in the event of an emergency such as fire, medical emergencies, or natural disasters.
    • Ensure that emergency response plans are in place and understood by all camp residents, and participate in drills as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor or Diploma in relevant Health and safety background.
    • A certification in health and safety, hospitality management, or camp management (preferred).
  • Experience:

    • Experience in a supervisory or inspection role, preferably in a camp or construction environment.
    • Experience in maintaining health and safety standards, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot safety hazards and maintenance issues.
    • Good understanding of health, safety practices.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels.
    • Basic knowledge of facility management, including plumbing, electrical systems, and waste management.
