This is a remote/ rotational position, working two weeks on and two weeks off, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.
The Technician – Maintenance Level 2 CMC performs craft level support duties including various manual, un-skilled, and/or skilled tasks as required for mechanical piping, structural installation, pipe lifting, scaffold erection, sheet metal fabrication, pipe line insulation and rigging, in accordance with all Hilcorp and Worley safety, environmental and operational practices, policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform piping spool/valve installation and removal, rigging, blinding and minor pipe fitting.
- Perform manual labor including operating small hand tools and power tools. (buffer/grinders, reciprocating saws, drills, shovels, etc.), and carrying and lifting materials (cribbing, shoveling snow, and other activities).
- Perform heavy labor.
- Assist building scaffold with qualified scaffold builder.
- Performs manual labor supporting scaffolding activity, such as cleanup, hauling, stacking materials, shoveling, stacking pipe skids, moving supports, handling steel material and valves.
- Demonstrate and promote safe work practices and adhere to company and client safety policies and procedures for work performed, including proper hazard recognition and mitigation of task and accept accountability for safe work practices.
- Demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.
- Ability to work as a part of a team and follow work direction.
- Participate in JSA, pre-job walk-down and risk assessment.
- Routinely perform safety and productivity observations; shop, field, and vehicle inspections.
- Routinely operate Worley/client light and/or medium duty vehicles
- Safely climb ladders of various heights.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- General knowledge of structural and mechanical piping maintenance operations.
- General knowledge of rigging and bolt-up procedures.
- Ability to help with piping spool installation and removal.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and be capable of performing assigned tasks. with limited general technical guidance.
- General mathematical knowledge.
- Depending on assignment, may be required to prepare and process various types of documentation including permits and risk assessments to identify task hazards.
- Must be self-motivated and work well with others.
- Ability to follow all policies and procedures and work in a safe and productive manner.
- Capable of learning various Worley, and Hilcorp safety and operational procedures and demonstrating required competencies.
- Able to effectively communicate with fellow workers and alternate.
- Advanced knowledge of all of the following: mechanical piping, structural and scaffold disciplines including bolt-up, rigging, pipefitting/installation.
- Advanced ability to interpret mechanical drawings & P&ID.
- Ability to operate vehicles (Pickups, 12 foot flatbed trucks - F-550, 12 foot box van trucks – F-550) and equipment (i.e. Man lifts) in all season adverse weather or road conditions.
- Able to work in confined spaces and wear respirators.
- Basic hand power/took knowledge.
- Ability to interpret work instructions.
- Basic knowledge of piping insulation.
- Provides work leadership to lower level General Maintenance Techs.
Physical Demand/Work Environment:
Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:
· Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
· Standing for prolonged periods of time.
· Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather
· Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
· Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.
· Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.
· Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.
· Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.
· Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.
· Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Minimum Qualifications:
- One (1) years’ experience working in one or more of the following disciplines: mechanical piping/bolt up, structural steel install, scaffold building, rigging, equipment operator, sheet metal work, insulation.
- Completion of scaffold inspection competent person training within 90 days of hire.
- Valid driver’s and the ability to be covered by Worley's auto insurer.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Petrochemical, oilfield, or arctic experience.
- Two (2) years of mechanical piping/bolt up.
- Rigging qualification.
- Two (2) years of one of the following - mechanical piping/bolt up, structural steel install, scaffold building, rigging, equipment operator, sheet metal work, insulation.
