Principal Mechanical Engineer - Packaged Equipment

We are currently recruiting for a Principal Mechanical Engineer – Packaged Equipment, to join our team of world class engineers and dynamic problem solvers. The Principal Mechanical Engineer – Packaged Equipment will contribute their subject matter expertise in skidded oil & gas equipment packages. This is a full-time position based out of our office in Calgary, Alberta.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of packaged / skidded oil & gas equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Accountable for the safe/sustainable engineering, quality, cost, and scheduled delivery of all packaged equipment work by the discipline.
- Represent single point of contact with the packaged equipment vendor for engineering activities.
- Supervision of low/moderate sized teams. Review / checking the work of subordinate engineers.
- Perform administrative functions including implementation of management policies and procedures, implement Company and Customers Procedures while seeking improvements to work processes and business approaches to better serve the project needs.
- Develop innovative technical solutions to complex problems.
- Work within a team framework of other disciplines and understand the broad organizational implications of the work being performed.
- Update schedules and progress reports.
- May be asked to generate budgets for new work.
- Interface with Project Management and the customers regularly.
- Develop/check specifications, data sheets, technical bids, purchase orders, resolve technical queries from vendors on various equipment, able to coordinate project requirements with other disciplines, project staff and clients.
- Provide technical support during the fabrication, installation, and commissioning of equipment packages, including troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise.
- Maintain quality deliverables through-out the procurement of the equipment.
- Support work share activities with overseas offices on Mechanical Engineering deliverables.
- Develop/support hour estimation, TIC estimates, deliverable requirements, and personnel loading.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. (Alberta P.Eng status required).
- Extensive experience with handling packaged equipment involving both rotating and static equipment like pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, Fired Heaters, Waste Heat Recovery Units (WHRUs) and Utility Boilers.
- Previous work experience with Worley or a Worley legacy company is considered an asset.
- Experience in refinery, carbon capture and utilization, gas processing, green/blue hydrogen and unconventional oil.
- Broad knowledge of electrical systems and process controls.
- Familiarity with various project phases and the scope/deliverables required for each phase.
- Training in risk management or quality.
- Experience in risk management, quality, procurement, or construction execution.
- Adept in data centric engineering.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of API, ASME, ASTM specifications.
- Keen safety awareness.
- Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility.
- May require travel to jobsites and/or manufacturing locations.
