As part of the Worley Graduate and Early Careers Community and under supervision and mentorship within the Liability, Management & Restoration (LM&R) department, you will support and assist Project Managers in all aspects of project execution including coordination, environmental monitoring, water and soil sampling of remediation and decommissioning sites. 

This is a temporary intern position based in a designated Worley office located in Edmonton or Cold Lake AB.  Position is anticipated to start May 2005 and end August 2005. 

Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Various types of fieldwork including but not limited to surface water/groundwater monitoring and sampling, drilling, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation.
  • Logging, texturing soils and operating various types of environmental related field equipment.
  • Collection of accurate field data using best practices and following standard operating procedures
  • Support and assist Project Managers in all aspects of project execution including coordination and procurement of project supplies and services.
  • Contribute towards technical reports.
  • Walk long distances in uneven terrain and under varying adverse weather conditions.
  • Keen awareness and understanding on health and safety in the workplace.
  • Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility or outdoor field environment.
  • ·     Travel as required for various field programs.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a University Degree or Technical Diploma from accredited institution in the field of Environmental science, Engineering, Geology, or related field. 
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to work challenging and potentially extended hours under varying weather conditions.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel
